The artist may partake in autotheory to keep themself alive. Every image and every art object is a self-portrait, as we project a part of ourself into the work we create. I use my body as a form for mark making; I can tell narratives by the light my body reflects. Frustration, grief, joy, mania, violence, and suppression lead to destruction. All artists enact violence on their projected self.
